Roden 1/48 T-28 Trojan
03/17/12 at 02:02:19

Well, first build of the year for me.
This is the new release by Roden.

...

Sprue shot:
...

I had a late start today as I found out I was missing one color so I had to run out and buy one.
So we're off to a slow start, but a start nonetheless.
Engine:
No problems with this assembly.
Part fit well.
Easy to put together.
...
I'm not too sure about the placement on this wire harness.
...
...

So that's as far as I got today.
Tomorrow I'll prime it and paint  and move on to the next part.

The spark plugs on that engine are right on the top in the center of the head so the ignition harness ends should terminate right in the center between the two rockers on the top of the head.

Looks like a good start. She should look good with some paint.

Yeah I checked for that last night when I was looking for the engine refs.
My oh my....those are the "fattest" ignition wires I've ever seen!  Cheesy

Don't know if I'll be able to work on it today as I have the landlord here with a crew doing some repair work in the apartment ( plus I have some Spring cleaning to do).

Yeah they do look a little chubby there. You have any solder? That would look much better and it is easy to work with.

It has been so nice up here in our neck of the woods hasn't it? i have been tackling the spring cleaning one day at a time. Got all the windows wide open enjoying the Spring air.

No I don't have any solder at hand.
I'm thinking of doing a second one later on with a resin Wright R-1820 that will be much nicer that the kit engine.

As for the weather today, I too have all my windows open and throwing out a lot of junk. Amazing how much junk a single man can accumulate! Shocked

Apologies for taking so long to post a follow up but I've been busy with health issues and work and stuff.
It's amazing how every time I want to get to the bench, several things combine to make that impossible.
IT"S A CONSPIRACY!!!!!!  Shocked

Anyways, I only had time to work on the landing gear this week (and take pics tonight).
I don't like this landing gear (mainly the nose gear).

...
...
...
This thing is very fragile.
To the point that I almost broke it when I was trying to clean off the seam lines.

Lucky for me, SAC came to the rescue with a set of metal landing gear for this kit.

I already placed an order for two sets (I have a second T-28).

Anyways, this is the wing landing gear:
...

So, I'll be back with updates whenever time allows.

Happy modeling.

Good to see you still on this one Howard. Don't let life steal to much build time away from you. I really want to see you build this one up as I might add it to the stash so i need to know if it is worth that pretty steep asking price!! Shocked

I'm trying my best.
Lately it seems everything is turned upside down.
But I'm trying to fit in some bench time here and there.

So do I but nope, not much time to work on it.
This week and next I''m busy with NorEastCon.
After that, maybe (if I survive NorEastCon).

I didn't realize you had this thread Howard. Saw the engine last night, those ignition wires are way to big, pick up some solder and replace them or check out Vector's R-1820 engines. They build up really nice.

So what are you doig at this NorEastCon that's taking up so much time?
