This is the Airfix 1/72 kit.  Second go around...It fell off my bech this past summer and well...bad things...so I pulled it out and tried to salvage the build.

The tail fin is a scratched replacement as the original shot off when the crash happened...God knows where it landed!

The cowling is Dope Aluminum paint and the engine panels are foil boiled with egg shells to change the color.  The rest is brush painted.  Rigging is nylon thread.

I did end up with some sag in the rigging on one of the struts...don't know why...everything was tight last night...hmmmmm   Undecided

The upper wing decals looked silvered, but I think it is my lighting.  If you look at the second pic you can see the attempt at instrument dials...not in focus, camera and I have yet to get along!

This kit was an absolute joy to build!  No fit issues at all, before the crash...a lack of interior could be rectified with some AM...Airfix has a pretty good selelction of Great War subjects, this may be the top of the line for them!

I dislike building 1/72 WW I kites, but I like the look of them, suppose they capture some of the delicate nature better than bigger scales.  Nice work, looks good.

Nice little build Joe. I would not venture into 1/72 scale biplanes either. Heck the 1/48 scale ones are small enough. I'm liking all of this action around here lately.

Looking good there Joe!  Just a thought on the rigging - what did you use?  If it's nylon thread, or similar, you'll be able to heat it up with a soldering iron to tighten it...

Nice save Joe. The scratch building turned out very well & the paint looks good too.
