I think 1/32 is probally much better suited to WWI subjects Frank due to the fact that the planes were pretty small compared to thier WWII counterparts. They larger size would definetely make adding rigging and all of the little bits much easier to deal with. I do'nt ever want to assemble a set Spandau machine guns from PE and plastic in 1/48 scale ever again. What a PIA! Cheesy

Hi folks,
I'll be looking in if you gents will have me? I treated myself to a WNW Se5a for christmas, big gulp when I opened the box, it will be my first WW1 aircraft for the usual reasons ( look bloody hard and rigging). I'm looking to finish up a few other projects and wait for some nice light evenings so wont be for a while yet.

Cheers...

Sure, I'll sort out some pictures and a few words sometime this week. Shall I post it in this thread or the Wingnut news thread?

Cheers...

I had a post before the hacker attack with a bunch of pictures of WWI tanks. I think I still have all the photos if someone wants me to post them up again.

I like WWI planes and the history behind them, paint schemes, etc. A lot about them scares me though. I have built one WWI aircraft, I think it was a 1/32 HobbyCraft Nieuport 17. No paint, no anything, just glued it together. I only have one WWI aircraft in the stash, Roden 1/72 Albatros W.4 Late.

I want to buy more, specifically (and obviously), some WingNut's kits. If I can build this Roden kit up decently enough, there are some other Roden kit's I wouldn't mind picking up too.

Alright, now I'm following. I will post the pictures up tomorrow in the `Trench' thread. The images I had were all fuzzy and had glare on them so I'll scan them and re-post.

After a few builds that I have in line I might pull the Roden kit out ... it still scares me. Rigging, all those uber tiny parts ... yeah what the hell, it'll look cool even if I can't do it justice  Cheesy.

I would be up for a GB!!!! I have at least 14 1/72 WWI kits in my stash and really am itching to do some!!! I fully rigged a 1/72 Swordfish, Frank can attest to that, so rigging these lil beauties doesn't scare me even though one of the kits is a Dh.2! Hope this thing will kick off!!!!

must say , you guy's have some interesting idea's here .

Getting folks more interested in the area has always been a challenge for all site's and no real simple solution . GB are a good way to go but sometimes limiing  to only one kit manufacter folks lose interest in the idea . Including others will give more options for folks to join with . Yes WNW kits are popular , but not ever one works in that scale and they still have a limited section for now .

I'm a WW 1 nut all the through , many projects on the go at the moment . WNW SE5a , Rodens Sopwith 1 1/2 strutter on floats , Eduards Pfalz D.IIIa , Rodens Pfalz D.III being super detail and Lone Stars FE-8 which only three parts used from the kit , everything is scratched on her so far this is a work in progress on the drome and areoscale . Stalled at the moment do to other commits .

Maybe step by step tutiorals on weathering , rigging ( I'm a master at this ) and detailing letting the folks know that this really are simple kits to build . After reading post on other forums these seem to be the main area's folks struggle with .

You could also have a contest . Like most well known site there is lot's of product which comes in for reviews everything from kit's to accessoires and me spelling  Cheesy Those items can be used for prize's and such -just an idea .

When I first join Areoscale I had contest just for us ladies . We posted 5 kit's in the stash and the members had to choose which one we built for the contest , can have something like that here ...

any way I'm talking to much ........ Smiley

The contest idea sounds fun. I like the idea of letting the members other than the builder choose the kit to be built. I think it should be opened to WWI subjects, all scales, not limited to a specific manufacturer. I'll even kick in a prize.
