Nothing good is ever cheap. it really looks like they way to go for sure if you are going to do biplanes regularly. That rig looks rock solid. The M5 does'nt look to shabby either! Smiley

She is out of the jig now and all rigging and construction (other than the windshield) is done. Next I'll Future her and start with the decals and dragon artwork. Should have this one complete by the end of the weekend or Monday at the latest.

Yeah, that crank is for starting the engine. Can you imagine being out on the water in this standing up trying to turn that engine over and not go for a swim at the same time. Then you have to get your butt back in the seat and get a grip before you end up snagging a log or running aground.

Well, this one is done. I did not do anything for weathering as I wanted this to be nice and clean as if from a well maintained rear port area. The kit is, I think, an old Pyro kit with some new resin details. There are some pretty serious accuracy issues especially in the cockpit and with the engine service panels. Some things I tried to fix others I did nothing with because they cropped up too late in the build. I have a second one I plan on building at some future date and will take the lessons learned from this one and make that one better. I used the kit eye and teeth decals then hand painted all the rest of the nose artwork as the kit decals were over-sized and basically just plain wrong. All rigging is done with easyline which made that job quite a bit easier.

Swanny, do you remember my build of the same kit, but without the flashy decals. well I had it in the lounge on a display shelf. I went to move it and it Imploded!!!!  Sounds mad, but i dropped it from my manly mitts. Only about an inch to the ground and it litterrally collapsed to its component parts. so all i can say is i hope you pinned the wings and that it stays where you put it LOL
She is a beauty,

Guys,

I have Aeroclub's 72nd scale and Fly Models' 48th scale Macchi M.5 scale renditions.  With a screen name of sharkmouth, you can bet I plan on the Dragon.

So, what references did you use to gauge the kit and decal accuracy?

Regards,
